| THE CREATOR
By Erica Law
Cast: Nurse
Mandy and Sandy
Old man
A nurse helps an old lady walks out of the mental
hospital and sits on a bench in the front garden.
NURSE: It’s such a bright sunny day.
MANDY: (Smiles wistfully) Yes, a bright sunny
day. What bright colors of fresh red blood shattered on this
beautiful sunny day! (She breaks into laughter) I know a couple
of bombs were just set off somewhere in the north, not very
far away.
NURSE: (Sadness casts on her face) Yes, I just
heard the news. It’s so sad. They bombed the place of worship
again. I heard many people died in this blast.
MANDY: Human beings think they are different from
other living creatures but they are essentially the same. They
love to fight and kill for power and territories. (She breaks
into laughter again)
NURSE: They’re not fighting for territories. They’re
crazy people killing others for what they think is right.
MANDY: Then, they’re fighting for the territories
of the mind. They conquer other people’s minds. Wars can take
on so many different perspectives. I love wars. Wars are the
fundamentals of life.
NURSE: Oh, Mandy, can you please don’t say this.
Wars are horrible. People lose their families and their lives
in wars. I wish there will be peace on earth.
MANDY: (She breaks into laughter) What a boring
place the earth would be without these blood splattering games.
After all, every living creature is born to die. Is there any
difference between dying today and 20 years later? Is there
any difference between dying with every part of the body intact
or with every single piece of flesh blasted apart?
